Sun Lens

Adam’s MIDSUMMER - a short film created with Bosch Professional Power Tools

Sun Lens is a site-specific sculpture created by Adam Detre as part of his Elements series.

Adam wanted to create a sculpture that resonates with the same positivity that the sun, light and warmth have always provided humans.

Since the dawn of existence, We have collectively HOPEd for a positive and bountiful future. the current global environmental, political and social climates give a renewed strength to the need for hope.

The piece aligns with, focuses on and frames the sunrise on the summer solstice.

The Sculpture measures 2.2m in diameter.

Sun Lens was partially inspired by Nancy Holt’s Sun Tunnels

As part of a longer-term project, Adam would create additional similar sculptures to imitate the idea of a small ancient community collectively looking towards the sunrise/future/hope.

As part of the project, Adam teamed up with Bosch Power Tools to make a short film which tells the story of the piece itself as well as how it was made. Please visit Bosch to see the full story.

NB. There is no religious or political statement associated with this project. Adam wanted to create a symbol of the positivity and hope that is associated with the sunrise.
